The Alchemist role and player badge. A glowing border on your avatar in Alchemy and the Alchemist role on our Discord server.
We also throw in a stash of Essence, Game Votes, and Feature Votes every month to spend on the things above. They top up automatically on your subscription anniversary day every month.
Becoming an Alchemist
Click your avatar in the bottom-left of Alchemy and pick Become an Alchemist (or look for the Alchemist banner anywhere it appears).
Pick monthly or annual billing. Annual saves you a chunk compared to paying month-to-month.
Enter your payment details. We use Stripe, so your card never touches our servers.
That's it. Your perks unlock immediately and your first monthly Essence and votes show up right away.
Lifetime Alchemists
If you backed Alchemy on Kickstarter and got the "Lifetime Unlimited" reward, you're already in. No subscription needed, ever. You'll see "Lifetime Alchemist since [date]" in your profile, and all the perks above are yours forever.
Managing your subscription
Open your Profile, click on Purchases, scroll to the Subscriptions section, and you'll see your next billing date and a button to manage your subscription. That opens the Stripe customer portal where you can:
Update your payment method.
Switch between monthly and annual.
Pause or cancel.
Download invoices.
What happens when you cancel
You keep your perks until the end of your current billing period (the date you paid through).
After that, the Alchemist role disappears from Discord and your avatar badge goes away.
Any unused Essence and votes stay on your account, in case you come back.
The Marketplace discount stops applying.
You can resubscribe any time, and everything snaps back on.
Common questions
What's the difference between monthly and annual?
Annual is billed once a year for a discount. Monthly is billed every month at the regular rate. Same perks either way.
I subscribed but my role didn't appear in Discord.
Make sure you've connected your Discord account from your Alchemy profile. See the Connect Discord guide for the one-time setup. Once connected, the role is automatic.
Can I gift an Alchemist subscription?
Not directly through Alchemy, but you can purchase a gift card on our Merch Store.
What happens to my characters and games if I cancel?
Nothing. Your characters, campaigns, and content stay yours forever, free or paid. Cancelling just turns off the Alchemist perks, not your account.
